Passaggio Privato, II is a second live iteration of an improvisational cinema piece first set in motion
during Elvira Akzigitova’s artistic film residency at Filmverkstaden in Finland. The artist approaches the
idea of a private passage as both an inner crossing and a physical act of entering elsewhere. Derived
from warning signs encountered during the artist’s travels to Italy, the title reflects an unattainable
longing to settle in a place that remains out of reach. In this second passage, the work unfolds once
again as a walkthrough of abstract, shifting mental images, set against a northern ambient score by
Kaarel Malken and spoken-word fragments from Katrin Möldre’s dream journals.

The visuals emerge through live optical manipulation, chased by two hands. Using a multi-channel slide
projector setup, still frames are animated, layered, and transformed into handcrafted fleeting motifs.
Mechanical hum and warm glow of the analogue machinery become part of the experience: a physical
presence that can soothe, envelop and hypnotise.

Passaggio Privato, II ist die zweite Vorführung einer experimentellen Filmarbeit, die die Künstlerin Evira
Akzigitova während einer Residency bei Filmverkstaden in Finnland entwickelte. Die Künstlerin versteht
die Idee einer “Privaten Passage” dabei sowohl als inneren Übergang als auch als physisches Eintreten
in einen anderen Ort. Der Titel geht auf Hinweisschilder zurück, denen sie auf Reisen durch Italien
begegnete, und verweist auf die unerfüllte Sehnsucht, an einem Ort anzukommen, der unerreichbar
bleibt. In dieser zweiten Version führt die Arbeit erneut durch abstrakte, wechselnde Gedankenbilder,
begleitet von einem nordisch geprägten Ambient-Soundtrack von Kaarel Malken und gesprochenen
Fragmenten aus den Traumtagebüchern von Katrin Möldre.

Die Bilder entstehen live durch optische Manipulation. Mit mehreren Diaprojektoren werden statische
Bilder animiert, überlagert und von Hand in flüchtige Motive verwandelt. Das mechanische Surren und
das warme Licht der analogen Geräte werden dabei selbst Teil der Performance und erzeugen eine
physische Präsenz, die beruhigend, einnehmend und hypnotisch wirken kann
